August has come to a close and this past weekends Labor Day celebrations have brought the unofficial start of fall and a new Garden Spotlight winner! We had a ton of entries this month! While the winner is selected by employee vote, I would like to share with you a few of my personal favorites!
Portia Jenkins submitted this shot of her plum trees. I just love the tree loaded with fruit and covered with moss. Very lovely and tasty!
Next garden image, submitted by Lenora Cuccinello, caught my attention because is its vivid colors. A beautiful Monarch butterfly perched on Eutrochium.
Another garden that caught my eye was this one from Carl Youngberg. It is a beautiful garden that makes great use of vertical spaces. When submitting he included this note:
“The shot I want to share is of three pots of sedum we call the Three Sisters. They have been great plants to cultivate and require little water or care, even in this heat. We placed the pots on stands and hung one on an old door we use to provide decor in the garden along with old light fixtures we rewired to 12 volt. At the base of the stands, we have box and other shrubs and plants that provide color. When artists were here recently to paint, several of them chose this grouping to paint.”
All the garden photos were so great! Everyone here at MasterGardening.com enjoyed viewing the shots this month but we had to choose just one. And the winner is….Sylvia Hall!
