What better way to kick off a new week than with a giveaway! Here at MasterGardening.com we love Dr. Earth’s great line of organic fertilizers but did you know the founder of Dr. Earth, Milo Shammas also has a wonderful book! “Healthy Garden Healthy You” highlights 100 easy-to grow plants and their health benefits! Learn more about “Healthy Garden Healthy You”- here.
Two of my favorite vegetables that Milo Shammas features in his book are Kale and Turnips. Both of these vegetables make great additions to the fall garden. Kale and turnips are both high in Vitamins K, A and C plus iron, magnesium, potassium and calcium!
Kale is wonderful in winter soups and casseroles, anytime a recipe calls for spinach consider substituting Kale instead. Turnips on the other hand are terrific roasted, mashed, in stews or even grated raw on a salad.
If you haven’t guessed already today we are giving away a copy of Milo Shammas very informative book “Healty Garden Healthy You” in addition to Kale and Turnip seeds so you can grow these fantastic nutrient rich vegetables in your own garden!
If turnips and kale are not on your list of yummy garden treats check out all the great seeds available for purchase on our website MasterGardening.com.

What are you most looking forward to this fall?

Celery is what I am looking forward to this fall season! I have not grown it before, but this is the year! I can’t wait to see how it turns out! And I would love to learn more about how to grow healthy food for my family.
I Love the fall I look forward to the fall colors, the pumpkins and gourds. I can’t wait till fall every year to go to the apple orchard. The apple cider, the apple pies and the cool weather. I love , love the fall.
Trying my first fall garden. All the leaves falling and starting composting.
I’m looking forward to all the beautiful pumpkins just waiting to have elaborate designs carved on their smooth faces!
Seeing Spinach grow! I tried planting seedlings in spring but it got hot too quick and the poor plants bolted. Trying again from organic seeds – starting to see some come up after lots of rain yesterday!
Pumpkin pie! Fires in the fireplace. Fall leaves. Homemade soup. Cool nights. Where should I stop?
With the coming of the cool weather, I love getting out in the garden and working in the dirt. Plenty of cleaning up the gardens after a long summer of growth!
Harvesting my first Butternut Squash!( First year attempting this type). And then hopefully enjoying many tastey recipes if it all ‘grows’ well..my fingers are crossed!

What I’m most looking forward to is all the different types of lettuces and and Kale, spinach that I can grow now that the weather is finally cooling down here somewhat here in Florida.
I look forward to walking under the brilliant foliage, nights by a crackling fire, the scent of baking pumpkin bars, candle light from a carved jack-o-lantern, haunted houses, and colorful mums.

Winding down; putting the garden (for the most part) to bed. Planting more garlic, my flower bulbs, and a baby lettuce mix.
my acorn squash baked with brown sugar and butter – yum!
Earth’s bounty with a little help from me. Spicy dehydrated kale, roasted turnips with root vegetables are just two of my favorite things.
